Councilor’s Message
Hi Neighbors,
I hope this email finds you well.
Spring is only about a month away, and I, for one, am ready for the warmer weather. We have a big storm only hours away - see the update below. I still blame the groundhog.
On Saturday, February 7, my wife and I attended Scout Pack 42's Blue & Gold Celebration. It was fun to join my friends in Scouts leadership, Kai Lee and Ray Theberge, along with all the scouting families. Sporting my Cub Scout achievement beads and scarf tie, it brought back some fond memories from my days in scouting as a kid.
On Monday, February 9, I attended the State of the City Address at Quincy High School. I enjoyed hearing from my good friend and neighbor, former school committee member Emily Lebo, as she highlighted the many achievements of our schools, as well as an ambitious agenda from Mayor Koch, which will certainly make for a busy council season.
On February 19, I hosted a community meeting at the Common Market to give neighbors the opportunity to learn about a proposed Italian restaurant at 678 Adams St. (the site of the former 7-Eleven). We mailed letters to 538 nearby residents inviting them to attend and provide feedback. This new spot would be in the addition built onto the building about a year ago. You can find more details on my community meeting page on the City website.
Today I attended the Qunicy Asian Resources, Inc (QARI) Lunar New Year Celebration. A very packed house for this fun day. Congratulations to the QARI team for another great event!
Thank you for signing up for this newsletter. Please feel free to share it with friends and neighbors who may find this information helpful.
Stay safe and stay warm!
Sincerely,
Walter Hubley
