Councilor’s Message
Hi Neighbors,
I hope this email finds you well.
This past Saturday, March 28th, I celebrated my 56th birthday by going to dinner with my wife and kids at Ena’s Lounge in Quincy Point - a nice Vietnamese restaurant that has an amazing Karaoke system. We enjoyed a great meal, and my daughter Victoria and I belted out some songs, including a duet. After dinner, my wife and I stopped by the Morrisett Post for some more Karaoke. We had a great time!
Earlier in the day, my wife and I also attended a Remember the Ladies event at Quincy High School honoring our school nurses. The ceremony celebrated outstanding women who cared for our students over the years and to this day. The ceremony was followed by a nice tea party in the school cafeteria.
On Sunday, March 29th, my wife and I attended the Vietnam Veterans’ Day Wreath Laying ceremony at the clock tower in Marina Bay. Director of Veterans Services Christine Cugini conducted a brief but impactful ceremony that included a reading of the names of those we lost.
On Tuesday, March 31st, my wife and I attended the Central Middle School Science Fair, which had so many fun and interesting presentations. The kids definitely took this science fair to the next level.
Later that same evening, at the Woodward School, my wife and I attended a lecture on Abigail Adams’ famous letter to her husband, John, in which she remarked, “Remember the Ladies.” The Woodward students did a great job at reciting the letter, and the lecture was an interesting discussion that contextualized Abigail's now-famous words. The event was run by the Adams Presidential Center, which you can watch here.

On the council meeting agenda, we will discuss a CPA appropriation, some election-related agenda items, as well as a review of the Council on Aging theft and a comprehensive report on city property transactions. You may find the agena here.
I always want to hear how you feel about all topics before the council so I can best represent you and our neighbors. You may reply to this email or email me at whubley@quincyma.gov to provide any input or feedback you have.
Planning Board Meeting Agenda
On Wednesday, April 8, at 6 p.m., the Planning Board will consider a Ward 3 project many residents have expressed strong interest in: a proposed Taco Bell in the Stop & Shop parking lot at 65 Newport Ave. You can find the full agenda here.
It is important to note that this project began its process prior to my swearing-in and was introduced at a previous Planning Board meeting. Because it’s important to me that you have the opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on all projects in our ward, I requested that the matter be continued to the April 8 agenda.
I’ve held two community meetings for this project—one on March 11 and the most recent on April 1 (an attempted meeting in February was canceled due to a storm). Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who emailed me with your thoughts and concerns. You still have time to share feedback, which will be placed on record at the Planning Board meeting.
After the planning board process, this project will go to the City Council and Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).
