Please see below for the city’s official notification about the upcoming Nor’easter. In addition, I suggest some additional steps for this and any other potential storms:
Make sure all phones, tablets, laptops, and battery packs are fully charged.
Check batteries in any flashlights and lamps.
If you are able, clear leaves and debris from any nearby storm drains. Even the smallest debris can cause a backup and flooding.
Secure any outdoor items such as trash barrels, patio furniture, etc.
Bring in any outdoor hanging plants or decorations.
Where possible, move your vehicles to safe off-street parking. This also improves passage for emergency vehicles.
Check-in our your neighbors if you are able to do so.

Storm Update
COASTAL STORM ADVISORY – SEPTEMBER 26–27
A coastal storm is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds and the potential for coastal flooding to Quincy beginning Friday and continuing through the weekend.
Strong northeast winds, combined with astronomical high tides and storm surge, will increase the potential for flooding in low-lying coastal areas. Residents should also be prepared for the possibility of downed trees, power outages and road closures.
High tides of particular concern include:
• Saturday: 11:34 a.m. and 11:54 p.m.
• Sunday: 12:12 p.m.
Mayor Tom Koch has activated the City’s severe weather operations. Additional equipment is being positioned on the City’s peninsulas, with additional resources available throughout Quincy as conditions warrant.
Residents in coastal and inland flood-prone areas should take their normal storm precautions, secure outdoor items, and avoid flooded roadways. Never drive through a flooded road or approach a downed power line. If you see a downed power line, call 911.
Sandbags are available during regular business hours at the DPW yard, 55 Sea Street.
